Covid FAQ's
-
Are you open?
Unfortunately we are not able to be open during this current lockdown.
Don't worry, we'll be rescheduling lessons, reactivating vouchers and automatically crediting all bookings. We'll also automatically extend the expiry dates on all valid vouchers, memberships and passes.
The good news is that we are preparing to reopen on 29th March 2021. You are able to book online here and we're looking forward to welcoming you back to Mendip this Easter!
-
Will my booking still go ahead?
We have contacted everyone who had a booking with us which we have had to make changes to due to the early 2021 lockdown.
Don't worry, we'll be rescheduling lessons, reactivating vouchers and automatically crediting all bookings. We'll also automatically extend the expiry dates on all valid vouchers, memberships and passes.
Please check your junk/spam folders - if you haven't heard from us please get back in touch.
Stay safe everyone.
-
Are you extending gift vouchers?
Following the first lockdown we extended all valid vouchers by 18 months so everyone should still have plenty of time left to use their voucher with most vouchers now valid until 2022.

General FAQ's
-

This ranges depending on the activity...
Tobogganing is available for ages 4+.
Skiing is available for ages 5+.
Snowboarding is for ages 8+, but must also have at least a size 2 adult shoe and be 1.2m tall.Frisbee Golf does not have an age restriction! Under 6's play for free.
Our outdoor activity sessions can be run in two ways, with different minimum ages:

You are also able to book a session privately just for your group. If you book the session exclusively we can real the age restriction and you can bring up to four children aged six or seven - everyone else must be eight or over. If you have anyone under eight in your group, at least one adult must take part.
-
What if the weather isn't very good?
As an outdoor activity centre we go ahead whatever the weather! The only exception to this rule is lightning directly over the centre, which we monitor very closely. Make sure you bring a change of clothes if it's raining, wrap up warm if it's windy, and drink plenty of fluids if it's hot. Make an adventure of it!!!
-
Can I park?
We have a large car park onsite. Parking is free of charge.
-
Do you have disabled access?
We are very fortunate to be situated in such a stunning location set in the Mendip hills. Unfortunately, this does come with its limitations. We currently only have stair access to our slopes and cafe, and the paths leading to our onsite activities can be fairly muddy and uneven.
Pushchairs/wheelchairs/mobility scooters may struggle depending on what part of the centre they are trying to access. We are always happy to try and help where we can so please do give us a call to discuss your individual requirements. -

You should have received a confirmation email from us on booking. Sometimes this email can end up in your junk folder. If you can't find your email you can log into your account on our website and find all the details here
Once you are logged in you'll be able to see all the details about any bookings or vouchers you have with us.

Snowsport FAQ's
-
Can I teach someone to ski/snowboard?
We cannot allow teaching on our slope by anyone other than our qualified, employed and insured instructors. We will ask your whole party to leave the slope if seen to be teaching someone who cannot ski or snowboard.
-
Can I bring my own kit?
Not for lessons but if you are just using our slope for skiing or snowboarding without supervision you are welcome to bring your own kit. However, Mendip cannot accept responsibility for any damage caused by our slope. Equipment hire is always included in the cost so we would always recommend using our ski's and boards but you are welcome to bring your own boots, helmets and pads if you prefer.
-
When are the lessons?
We have lessons on in the evenings, every weekend and throughout the school holidays at times to suit everyone. We put on as many lessons as we can. We are constantly reviewing where the demand is and will always try and flex our schedule to get certain levels in if required.
You have full control over booking your own lessons with our online booking system. You can view all of our availability by clicking 'SNOWSPORTS' in the grey menu bar. Feel free to have a scroll through our calendar before purchasing a snowsport course, we are sure there will be lessons at times that suit you, whatever your schedule! -
What should I wear?
Something comfy! You definitely don't need anything special and we strongly advise against salopettes and proper ski jackets! A pair of joggers or leggings are ideal as they give you plenty of movement (avoid jeans whenever possible) and loose layers that will keep you warm but that you can easily remove if you start getting warm. If it's raining, we'll still go ahead with lessons so a set of waterproofs is always a good idea.
As long as you are warm and comfortable, have your legs and arms are covered and you have a pair of gloves, you are good to go! -
Do I need to book in advance?
All of our activities, sessions and lessons do need to be booked in advance. Everything can be booked online, via our website.
Click here to view our snowsport selection and book online.
-
When should I arrive for my session?
All of our snowsport lesson times include kit up and de-kit so you just need to arrive 5 - 10 minutes before your session time to check in and complete some paperwork.
-
I have previous ski/snowboard experience
It is really tricky to tell what level lesson would be suitable for you if you have previous experience as it will be different for everyone. We would recommend booking a private lesson so our instructors can coach and advise which level of group lesson is best for you.
-
How many people are in there in each lesson?
Our group ski and snowboard lessons will only ever have a maximum of 8 people per instructor.
Private lessons can have up to 8 people (age 8+).
Minis group lessons will have a maximum of 4 people per instructor. Minis private lessons are for a maximum of 2 people (ages 5 - 8).
-
What safety equipment will I be given?
All slope users must wear a helmet whilst on the slope. We always include helmet hire at no additional charge. Gloves must be worn whilst on the slope, please bring these with you or they are available for purchase onsite.
-
Are group lessons my only option?
Group lessons are a great way to learn and are the most cost-efficient way to learn, especially with our Learn to Ski and Learn to Snowboard courses.
If you decide group lessons aren't for you, we also offer private snowsport lessons. Click here for private ski lessons and click here for private snowboard lessons.

How do I book with a recreational slope pass voucher?
Recreational slope pass vouchers are for those who can already competently ski or snowboard. This article will walk you through using the voucher to book a session!
You can view all the recreational-level session options for skiing by clicking here, or for snowboarding by clicking here.
Your voucher will apply to one of the "2hr Morning/Lunchtime/Afternoon Recreational Ski" or "2hr Morning/Lunchtime/Afternoon Recreational Snowboard" sessions. This is what they will look like:
These sessions will vary in price between peak and off-peak slots, but your voucher can be used for either type.
Scroll through the available sessions and find a time and date that suits you. Click on the session for a pop-up box showing session details and FAQ's.
Select the total number of adult and/or child participants (under 18's will count as "children") and click "Add" to put the slots into your basket. Please note that adult and child slots will need to be added to your basket separately, but will all be booked in as one group.
You can then click on your basket at the top right of the page - look for this icon:
Then proceed to checkout. If you already have an account with us you can sign in, or if not, create an account.
Once you are signed in, you will be directed to the review page of your booking, where you can enter your voucher codes (as shown in the red box below).
You'll need to enter the voucher code and security code into the boxes, and then click "Redeem". There will be a pop-up window confirming that the voucher has discounted the session amount.
Close the popup window. If you have more than one voucher and have added multiple slots to your basket, you can now repeat the process with the other codes.
Scroll down and continue to Checkout. You will be asked for some more information - complete the participant name and (if required) enter the age.
As you continue through the check out process, you will have a chance to read through our T&C's.
If you have additional items in your basket that are not covered by your vouchers, you will then be prompted for card details to pay for these.
If there is no value left to pay, your transaction will be complete! You'll receive a confirmation email from us which contains all the details of your booking. These often go into junk mail folders, so please check there if you can't find it.
You can also view your booking by logging into your account.
-
How do I redeem my voucher?
Your voucher will have unique codes which can be used to book online. Simply use the codes during checkout to redeem your voucher. Visit www.mendip.me/myvoucher for more info on using your voucher type.
-
Can the recipient choose their activity?
All of our activity vouchers can be used against any other activity of the same or less length of time (excluding snowsports).
If you want to try an activity your voucher isn't valid for you can redeem the original value of the voucher towards anything else. -
What if I don't have a printer?
You can use the digital copy of your voucher without needing to print it out - you just need your unique codes to book.
-
Why isn't there a Tobogganing voucher?
We are not able to offer a Toboggan voucher at the moment as the session times and capacity restrictions keep changing due to Government restrictions and COVID guidelines. We're not sure when we can revert back to our normal tobogganing format so it would not be fair to sell vouchers that you might not be able to use as intended.
Our value vouchers can be used against exclsuive use of toboggan sessions and will also be valid against individual spaces when we are able to return to our normal tobogganing format. -
How do I use my snowsport course voucher?
If you have a Learn to Ski or Learn to Snowboard course voucher, this article will walk you through using it to book your first lesson and begin your journey to becoming a skier or snowboarder!
This article will use the example of skiing but the process is exactly the same for snowboarding, just look for Try Snowboarding sessions instead of Try Skiing.
Your voucher should look something like this:
You are going to use the codes outlined in the red box to book your lessons.
To begin with, you are only going to book your Try Skiing lesson. To do this, click here to view available ski sessions.
Click here to view available snowboard sessions.
Scroll through the lessons available and select the "Try Skiing" lesson on a time and date that suits you.
Add the session to your basket and proceed to checkout.
If you already have an account with us, sign in and if not create an account.
Once you are signed in, you will be directed to the review page of your booking.
As you are booking a Try Skiing lesson, you will need the corresponding voucher code.
Enter your unique codes into the boxes and click on the "Redeem" button.
Once you click Redeem, the system will deduct the value off of your basket.
Close the popup window. If you have more than one course voucher and have added multiple spaces to your basket, you can now repeat the process with the other codes.
Scroll down and continue to checkout. You will be asked for some more information, complete the participant name and, if required, enter the age.
As you continue through the check out process, you will have a chance to read through our t&c's.
If you have additional items in your basket that are not covered by your vouchers, you will then be prompted for card details to pay for these.
If there is no value left to pay, your transaction will be complete. You'll receive a confirmation email from us which has all the details of your booking. (Our confirmation emails can sometimes go into junk/spam folders).
You can also view your booking by logging into your account.
Once you have completed your Try Skiing lesson, you can book your 1 star ski lesson by following the same process and using your 1 star voucher and security codes.
-
How do I use my voucher as credit?
If you cannot, or do not want to, use your gift voucher for the activity it was originally intended for, you can use it against any of our activities.
This can only be done for the value that the voucher was purchased for, so if it was a voucher purchased during a promotional offer, you will get the amount that was paid off an activity session.
To use your voucher, add the activity session to your basket. When you get to the review page of the booking, enter your voucher codes.
If the voucher is valid but is not for the activity that is in your basket, you will receive a warning message asking you if you wish to proceed and telling you how much the voucher will discount off your basket.
If you click "Redeem voucher", the value will come off your basket total.
If you do not wish to use your voucher value, just click anywhere outside the box, or go back a step.
Please Note: Vouchers can only be used once, so if your basket total is less than the amount paid for a voucher, you will lose any remaining credit. If your voucher included 'chips and a drink', the amount paid for this upgrade will be used against your basket total in lieu of the chips and drink element.
-
How do I use my Frisbee Golf voucher?
We have a couple of different types of frisbee golf vouchers.
If your voucher looks like this:
You are able to book a space on our free sessions for voucher holders. These sessions appear on every day that the course is open and are always priced at £0. (Outlined in red below).
Select the date you wish to attend and add the relevant number of adult and children spaces to your basket, as covered by your voucher.
If you are only booking for players covered by your voucher, continue to the checkout page. You will receive the following warning message when you add people to your basket that do not have to be paid for. Click "Add to cart" to continue.
When you get to the checkout page, there will be an option to redeem a voucher. This does not apply to your Frisbee Golf voucher as your basket total is already at £0. Continue straight to the check out.
Once you have agreed to the terms and conditions, your booking will be complete and there will be nothing to pay. Please make sure you bring your voucher with you to your session otherwise the team will have to take payment on arrival.
If you wish to book for additional people, not covered by your voucher, add them to your basket by selecting the same day but the activity session titled "Frisbee Golf" and priced at from £3. You will only have to pay for the additional players at checkout.
If your voucher looks like this:
You need to use the codes in the bottom left hand corner to make your booking. Using this voucher, you are going to book the Frisbee golf session titled "Frisbee Golf" and priced at £3. (Outlined in red below).
Add the number of children and adults you require to your basket and proceed to check out.
After you have logged in, or created an account, you will get to a "Review" page of your booking. At this point, you want to input your unique voucher and security codes from your voucher.
You also want to change the drop down menu of "Uses to apply today" to as many people you are booking and/or are covered by your voucher. Once you have done this, click "Redeem".
The voucher will then discount the value of your basket, bringing it down to £0.
Continue through the checkout process. Once you have agreed to the terms and conditions, your booking will be complete. You do not have to bring this type of voucher with you.

Activities FAQ's
-
Can I book an exclusive session as a Birthday Party?
Yes, you may book an exclusive instructor-led activity session as a Birthday Party. Social distancing must be maintained throughout the session, even if participants are in the same school bubble.
The maximum number of participants varies between activities and Covid restrictions.
Whilst the "Rule of 6" is in place, you are exempt from this limit whilst under the instructor's guidance however once the activity session ends, the group must not be larger than 6 people.
We ask that you do not socialise with friends or family members outside of the allowed social gathering guidance whilst on our premises, including in the cafe-bar area. We are not able to take bookings for the cafe however you are welcome to use our land for a socially distanced picnic providing the whole group is no larger than 6.
Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, we are not currently able to offer party food packages or use of our party room.
-
What is the difference between "Individual spaces" and "Exclusive group"?
You are able to either book spaces on an activity session or have the session exclusively for your group.
If you book spaces, there will be a maximum of either 8, 10 or 12 people per session, depending on the activity. Social distance will be maintained throughout. The minimum age for spaces is 8.
If you book a session exclusively (only available if no spaces have yet sold on a given date and time), you can bring up to 8, 10 or 12 people to take part, dependent on the activity. We can allow groups larger than 6 because we actively manage the social distancing as a COVID Secure Business. Social distance will be expected between participants from different households. The minimum age for exclusive sessions is 6.
We have temporarily reduced the maximum numbers for some activities to allow for easier social distancing.
-
What happens if the weather isn't great?
As an outdoor activity centre, we go ahead whatever the weather! The only exception to this rule is lightning directly overhead, which we monitor very closely and rarely stops play for more than a few minutes. Make sure you bring a change of clothes if it's raining, wrap up warm if it's windy, and drink plenty of fluids if it's hot. Make an adventure of it!!!
-
Can I use my activity voucher?
Yes! We are now able to accept gift vouchers again. You may use your voucher on any instructor led activity that your voucher is valid for. If your voucher was due to expire after 22nd March 2020, we have automatically extended it by 18 months so your codes will still work for an online booking.
All vouchers can be used for the value paid for them against any of our activities.
-
Do I need to complete any forms?
We will need a completed copy of our medical declaration. Where possible please print it out and bring it with you. We will have copies available on site.

How do you play?
It's pretty easy and a lot like regular golf!
1. Go to the first 'Teeing' off post
2. Take it in turns to throw your first shot towards the basket
3. The player whose frisbee landed farthest from the hole throws next
4. Once everyone's frisbee is in the basket, write down your scores
5. Find your next 'Tee Post' to play the next hole
6. Add up your scores - remember the winner is the player with the lowest score!
Our team will also run through how to play before you set off. -

Please use the dedicated booking page for vouchers and memberships. This will not cost you anything to book but will secure your slot on your chosen day. Please make sure you bring your voucher codes or membership card with you otherwise you may be charged.
-
How many people can play together?
Under the "Rule of 6", we cannot allow groups larger than 6 people to play at one time. There is no minimum number.
-
What time should we arrive?
Once you have made a booking for your chosen day, you are welcome to arrive anytime within the booked period. If multiple groups arrive at the same time, we will stagger the time that you set off to allow for social distancing on the course.
You must have finished playing within daylight opening hours.
-
How do I become a member?
If you've caught the Frisbee Golf Bug, we've got some great deals on both individual and family memberships which allow you to play our course as many times as you like for a whole year. Frisbee Golf memberships are not currently available to buy online but ask our team whilst you are onsite and we can get you sorted straight away with an annual membership.

-
How long does it take?
Frisbee Golf is a self led activity so you can take the course at your own pace. We have 18 holes and it is a couple of km's walk so long it takes will depend on your group size and ability. On average, the course takes around 90 minutes to play in full.
-
Can I bring my COVID secure group?
If you are looking to book a session for an organised, COVID secure group (e.g. Scouts, Guides etc), please get in touch with our dedicated booking team via hello@mendip.me.

Unfortunately frisbee golf can only be played in daylight hours. We have set our time slots so that you should be able to complete your game before it gets dark.
-
What should we wear?
Frisbee Golf is laid around our woodland area and we go ahead in all weathers. We suggest wearing clothing suitable for being outside and walking around the woods. Sturdy footwear is highly recommended.
-
What is the Yeti Hunt?
The Yeti Hunt is included in every round of Frisbee Golf, especially for kids! Our friendly Yeti has laid 10 furry yeti eggs around our woodland. Whilst playing Frisbee Golf, keep an eye out for these eggs and the letter they each contain. We will give you a special form to write the letters on as you go and when you get back, if you can correctly unscramble the code word, we will give you a chocolate prize!

Tobogganing FAQ's
-
What should we wear for tobogganing?
Tobogganers must wear full length sleeves, full length trousers, covered footwear (no flip flops or crocs) and a pair of full fingered gloves whilst on the slope.
There is a light sprinkler system on the slope so you could get a little damp even if its not raining.
We will go ahead in all weather conditions so dress for the weather and consider layers in case you get too hot. -
What time should we arrive for tobogganing?
Please aim to arrive at least 10 minutes before your booked time. Your 30 minutes on the toboggan slope will begin at your booked time and late arrivals will lose time on the toboggan slope. Unfortunately we will not be able to carry your time into the next slot so please arrive in plenty of time to avoid disappointment!
-
What age range is tobogganing for?
Tobogganers must be over four years old and we have removed the upper age limit - so for the first time in over 20 years adults can have a go too!!! (but only whilst we are hiring the slope out on an exclusive use basis).
-
Can we use our Tobogganing vouchers?
You have two options...
1: You can use the value of your voucher towards any of our activities including our new exclusive tobogganing sessions. Simply enter your voucher codes during checkout and your basket total will be discounted by the amount originally paid for your voucher(s).
2: We have automatically extended your voucher by 18 months so if you prefer, you can wait and use the voucher for its original purpose as soon as we can run tobogganing safely again for indivdiual bookings.
Please note, vouchers can only be used once so if your basket total is less than the amount paid for a voucher, you will lose any remaining credit. If your voucher included 'chips and a drink' the amount paid for this upgrade will be used against your basket total in lieu of the chips and drink element. -
What if it's raining?Tobogganing goes ahead, whatever the weather! It can be even more fun in the rain. There is a covered area for spectators at the top of the slope. The slope itself is not covered and we have sprinklers for when the slope is too dry, so rain just means that everyone slides faster and has more fun!We always recommend dressing for the weather and bringing waterproofs or a change of clothes if it's particularly wet on the day of your tobogganing session.
