Recreational Ski / Board

Slope pass for experienced skiers or snowboarders.

    Who are these activities for?

This session is for anyone who is able to already ski or snowboard. You must be able to stop on demand, control your speed, steer and avoid other objects and slope users and use the button drag lift.

    How does it work?

Simply choose whether you want to ski or snowboard, how many people, how long you want on the slopes and the date you want to visit. All equipment is included in the cost (ski's/snowboard, boots and helmet). All users will need to be wearing a pair of gloves, full length sleeves and full length trousers and a face mask. Masks must be worn whilst in the bootroom. If you have your own helmet, we would recommend bringing it with you as the sanitisation process means ours are sometimes still damp.

    How much is it?

The price varies depending on how long your session is and the season.

    FAQ's

No. We cannot allow teaching on our slope by anyone other than our qualified, employed and insured instructors. We will ask your whole party to leave the slope if seen to be teaching someone who cannot ski or snowboard.

Not for lessons but if you are just using our slope for recreational skiing or snowboarding, you are welcome to bring your own kit. However, Mendip cannot accept responsibility for any damage caused by our slope. Equipment hire is always included in the cost so we would always recommend using our ski's and boards but you are welcome to bring your own boots, helmets and pads if you prefer. There is no discount available for bringing your equipment.

For skiers there are no age restrictions on slope passes, as long as everyone meets the requirements.

For snowboarders, there are no age restrictions but you must be at least 1.2m tall and have at least an adult size 2 shoe, or bring your own kit.

To use a Slope Pass you will have to sign to say you are able to stop on demand, control your speed, steer and avoid other objects and users and use a button drag lift. If it has been a while since you last skied or boarded, we recommend starting on our smaller lift and taking things steady until you get your legs back. If you are deemed to be unsafe to yourself, or other slope users, we may have to ask you to leave the slope.

We have added recreational skiing and snowboarding to our online booking system so you can secure your slot before arriving.

    You can book online here.

Unfortunately, we do not hire ski poles as part of our recreational ski pass and do not have poles available for hire.

If you are experienced in using ski poles and can use them safely, you are welcome to bring your own or we do have them for sale in our reception.

Recreational slope pass vouchers are for those who can already competently ski or snowboard. This article will walk you through using the voucher to book a session!

You can view all the recreational-level session options for skiing by clicking here, or for snowboarding by clicking here.

Your voucher will apply to one of the "2hr Morning/Lunchtime/Afternoon Recreational Ski" or "2hr Morning/Lunchtime/Afternoon Recreational Snowboard" sessions. This is what they will look like:

These sessions will vary in price between peak and off-peak slots, but your voucher can be used for either type.

Scroll through the available sessions and find a time and date that suits you. Click on the session for a pop-up box showing session details and FAQ's.

Select the total number of adult and/or child participants (under 18's will count as "children") and click "Add" to put the slots into your basket. Please note that adult and child slots will need to be added to your basket separately, but will all be booked in as one group.

You can then click on your basket at the top right of the page - look for this icon:

    Then proceed to checkout.

If you already have an account with us you can sign in, or if not, create an account.

Once you are signed in, you will be directed to the review page of your booking, where you can enter your voucher codes (as shown in the red box below).

You'll need to enter the voucher code and security code into the boxes, and then click "Redeem". There will be a pop-up window confirming that the voucher has discounted the session amount.

Close the popup window. If you have more than one voucher and have added multiple slots to your basket, you can now repeat the process with the other codes.

Scroll down and continue to Checkout. You will be asked for some more information - complete the participant name and (if required) enter the age.

As you continue through the check out process, you will have a chance to read through our T&C's.

If you have additional items in your basket that are not covered by your vouchers, you will then be prompted for card details to pay for these.

If there is no value left to pay, your transaction will be complete! You'll receive a confirmation email from us which contains all the details of your booking. These often go into junk mail folders, so please check there if you can't find it.

You can also view your booking by logging into your account.

    General FAQ's

This ranges depending on the activity...

Tobogganing is available for ages 4+

Skiing is available for ages 5+

Snowboarding is for ages 8+ (but must also have at least a size 2 feet and be 1.2m tall)

Frisbee Golf does not have an age restriction and under 6's play for free

Our outdoor activity sessions can be run in two ways, with different minimum ages:

If you are booking individual spaces on an activity session, the minimum age is 8.

You are also able to book a session privately just for your group. If you book the session exclusively we can relax the age restriction to include children aged 6 or 7. At least one adult must take part and be included in the group if there is anyone taking part under the age of 8.

As an outdoor activity centre we go ahead whatever the weather! The only exception to this rule is lightning directly over the centre, which we monitor very closely. Make sure you bring a change of clothes if it's raining, wrap up warm if it's windy, and drink plenty of fluids if it's hot. Make an adventure of it!!!

All of our activity sites have plenty of parking onsite. Parking is free of charge.

We are very fortunate to be situated in such a stunning location set in the Mendip hills. Unfortunately, this does come with its limitations. We currently only have stair access to our slopes and cafe, and the paths leading to our onsite activities can be fairly muddy and uneven.

Pushchairs/wheelchairs/mobility scooters may struggle depending on what part of the centre they are trying to access. We are always happy to try and help where we can so please do give us a call to discuss your individual requirements.

You will receive a confirmation email from us once your booking has been made. Sometimes this email can end up in your junk folder, so please check there first if you can't find it.

If you can't find a confirmation email, your online booking may not have been fully completed - please check whether the session you were trying to book is still available online. If it is, please try to make the booking again. If it's not, please contact us so that we can check what's happened.

If you've searched through our list of FAQs to see and still can't find the answer, there are a few ways you can get in touch.

    Firstly you could either:

Click here to "Create a new support ticket" or send an email to hello@mendip.me

Finally, if you would rather speak with one of our friendly team, you can arrange a phone call by clicking here.

We are currently operating our cafe out of Mendip Lodge rather than the Alpine Lounge. This is just a few minutes walk up the hill from the main centre.  It is open 7 days a week during the school Summer holidays from 8.30am until 9pm (10pm on Saturday).

We operate on a walk-in basis only and do not take reservations for tables or food.

Mendip Activity Centre, Mendip Lodge and Mendip Basecamp are all cashless.

We accept all major credit and debit cards (excluding American express).

Yes! We have a bunkhouse right on site that is available year round and, during the Summer months, we have 2 canvas villages onsite also.
